Cryptozoology

Cryptozoology means the study of hidden animals.

I love cryptozoology because I am curious.

Ok ok..... first of all.... Let me introduce the most famous cryptid. (cryptid=hidden animal)

Mr Loch Ness!

Loch Ness monster is also known as Nessie. Loch Ness is the largest lake in England, Scotland, and it could reach a depth of 900 feet.

Nessie is a monster living in the Loch Ness Lake. It is believed to have a long neck and 2 humps on its back like a camel. Its skin is grey and it has 2 flippers. Sightings has provided information that this monster can grow up to 40 feet long. Some people believe that it is Plesiosaur. Plesiosaur is a term for marine reptiles with long necks and flippers. However, Plesiosaurs are believe to have extinct 70 million years ago.

There are many sightings for this monster but no one was able to capture a truly clear photograph yet. However, there are some exciting videos. There was one which show a creature swimming in zig zag across the lake with 2 humps on its back but the film was not clear enough and it did not capture the head of Nessie.

Anyway, believe it or not!

Bigfoot

I am sure many people have heard of the bigfoot. It is believed to be a man-like ape which walks on 2 legs which is often sighted in North-west America's forests. There are alot of sightings for the Bigfoot and many unusual footprints were found.

There are other bigfoot sightings in other places too. In the peaks of the Himalayas, some hairy man-like apes were sighted too. They were named 'Yeti'. This cryptid is similiar to the bigfoot and i think they belong to the same family but it is still strange that one can live in North-West American forest and the other is all the way at the peaks of Himalayas.

Alot of photos were taken of the bigfoot but none was clear enough to tell if it is actually a Gorilla or a Bigfoot.
Thunderbird

The Thunderbird is a legendary creature in North America which is said to bring thunder and rain. People claimed to have seen the Thunderbird with a wing span of 15 feet. That will be the largest bird in the world.

I will quote one of the sightings in Alaska where a massive bird was spotted. The quote was taken from CNN.com.

"At first I thought it was one of those old-time Otter planes," the paper quoted Moses Coupchiak, 43, a heavy equipment operator from Togiak, as saying. "Instead of continuing toward me, it banked to the left, and that's when I noticed it wasn't a plane."

The Daily News, the largest daily in Alaska, said scientists had no doubt that people in the region, west of Dillingham, had seen the winged creature but they were skeptical about its reported size.

"I'm certainly not aware of anything with a 14-foot wingspan that's been alive for the last 100,000 years," the paper quoted raptor specialist Phil Schemf as saying.

I can't find any pictures of the sighting though.

Champ

Lake Champlain is situated in North America. It is a big lake with a depth of 400 feet. Quite deep. The lake itself formed around 10,000 years ago at the end of the last Ice Age, so it is a very very old lake. I will not be surprise if there is something unusual lurking in such an old lake.

The description of Champ is very much like the Loch Ness monster. It is also believed to be Plesiosaur but some people believe that it might be just a large sturgeon fish. Most sightings describe a 15-25 feet long creature with a long neck and a dark coloured body with one or two humps.

So tired after typing, I will continue if there is other new findings or sightings! There are other interesting cryptids which I didn't include because it is hard to find pictures.

Until then~
