Gathering 03-04-10

Our first gathering in 2010 ended in a mess! LOL. It's all yh's fault lah. She tried to make our teacher drunk. Heng sia. That day I got performance so I arrived late and they forgot all about making my drink wine. I hate wine. Absolutely hate it.

Let's see, we got a total of about 12 bottles of wine that day.

Contribution from all the students... YH 's aim is to make teacher drunk.

And the came the feast contributed by various students too. My mum of cuz prepared her best dish, the chicken curry with fried bee hoon. May said that my mum must cook chicken curry cuz her curry is now like a stereotype in coi. Everytime we think of curry we think of my mum.

MAd bala in his yellow t shirt again.

Everyone laughing... dunno at what?

Teacher is getting drunk already. May sit quietly by her side, not making a sound, hoping that no one wil ask her to drink.

These 2 already give up. Sit at the side, concuss liao. hahaha.. So many ppl wearing pink that day leh. Think next time we have party, we must have a theme. Like everyone must wear certain colour or certain style. Then fun mah right... lol.

That day our teacher got drunk and she told me that the first thing she think of when she woke up the next day is... miko never drink any wine last night.

Hahaha... yah heng for me I escaped!

Practicing Opera

Practicing opera can sometimes be dangerous. Especially when it involves lethal weapons like tha 'Ah Ceh'. Dunno how to spell it but the Ah Ceh is a popular weapon for the opera practitioners. I believe all the opera pratictioners here have more or less used the Ah Ceh as weapon before.

May and Zhu Ying confessed to me not so long ago that they used the Ah Ceh to practice at home. Zhu Ying's son laughed at her while her husband shakes head. May practiced at home too and her maid said," M'am what you doing with that thing? I need to take baju."

My mum, being not an exception, used the Ah Ceh at home and caused a havoc. My father has to protect himself from getting attacked.

Please see..

Watch out your head.. My mum is on the prowl.

Strange mopping style

My mum invented this strange mopping style. I found out about it one day when I was at home in the afternoon. She has finished mopping the floor and decided to dry up the floor a little more. So she did this while we all kept our feet up.

Nice style right? hahaha Only she will do this kind of things lor.

Kisses~ Muackz!

Random photos taken by Phyllis Quan. She too free nothing to do, go around snapping photos of people. Especially when we were on the float. She was very bored I think.

However some photos she took are quite nice unexpectedly like this one:

I was sitting on the float because my feet were aching from standing too much.

This photo looks like me and susan are gossiping....

Phyllis took this photo and she find this photo very amusing. She kept laughing and showing everyone this photo. HAhaha... She said that I look like a cat in this photo.

And this one... also very random.

I like this photo alot and set it to be my hp wallpaper liao. LOL cannot see my face... like very mysterious.

Then we tried to take a photo of ourselves like this but we kept getting the wrong photo because the float was very cramp. We decided that we will ask susan to help us take a picture after the parade.

After the end of our parade, we waited at a petrol station for KL to come pick us up. I took the chance to take some photos with the other dancers.

And so Susan helped us to take this muackz photo.

This Phyllis mover her face so far away dunno scared what leh. LOL She is so thin skin lor. Susan say where got people take photos like that one? Got dan want to kiss you then you must be very happy and move your face closer mah. Then suddenly Susan say she will demo and grabbed me! LOL

We decided to take a photo with the impression of kissing by using the correct angle. Susan and me posed while Phyllis took the photo.

Hahahaha... funny sia.... the other people were all laughing like mad seeing us do this. They were all exclaiming that we look very real. But susan and me both think that this photo fail because it apparently show that we are just faking it. It must look real lor.

he other were giving us lots of comments like what angle our heads should be and that we must close eyes etc.

And so Phyllis asked us to give her another chance so we did the pose again.

Phyllis seemed quite happy with this photo but we still think it fails.. Looks kinda weird. Not like those nice ones we always see in opera leh or TV leh.

Still fail right??? Hmmm.. seems like Phyllis is not a very good photographer. I wanted to give it a shot so I asked the other people to pose while I take the photo but nobody want to pose!! They all quite shy leh.. I told Phyllis and Susan to pose and Phyllis told me like that is very gay lor! Hahahaha.. Imagine a Sheng and another sheng lor.

Susan in the end tried to grab Phyllis also and I quickly shoot one photo before Phyllis can push herself away.

This one looks very 勉强 and Phyllis look so scared. She kept shouting,"wah you all crazy ah!!!"

Finally, we decided that the best way to get the picture we want is Phyllis and me wil pose while Susan will take the photo. I think at least Susan knows what we want to take and here it is:

I think of all picture this one is the best liao. It's the most realistic one and I kinda like it! It's quite romantic right? Just like the one in my opera blog header!!! We laughed so much after taking this photo cuz it's so real and it's so funny! I laugh till stomachache and Phyllis keep saying how crazy we are to do this.

While we were laughing away so hard, another ying tai our group suddenly come over to me and grab me! She wanted to kiss me to take photo also but I freaked out! She is so sudden lor! I told her she should grab Susan because she is a pair with her mah. Why grab me wor? Like lesbian! Man, this is so crazy. We are really a mad bunch.

KL also say this one very realistic and I should edit the background away and use this photo as my header in my opera blog instead. Wah, like that many ppl will see, dun want la, cuz Phyllis very shy. She dun want me to publicise lor. That's why I can't put it in facebook!

Phyllis is like so much more younger than all of us but seems like we are much crazier than her! I thought youngsters should be more adventurous and crazy lor but apparently, so far I see so many youngsters, few are as crazy as me and a few of my friends. Phyllis is so shy, I told her she should join us and learn opera. Soon she will be as crazy as us liao.

In the car, Phyllis started taking random pictures of me again!!

So I took a picture of her and susan... These 2 crazy Liang shan bos without their hats~ LOL....

It was fun and crazy but we all enjoyed it. All of us laughed like nobody business! Next time got chance I will think of other crazy pose to take photos with!

Chingay at Heartland

I took part in the Chingay at heartland events. We toured at Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun, Tampines then Chinatown. The heartland events were very super tiring but it was still fun. On the first parade at North, The whole parade took like 4 hours!!! I don't know why it took so long. The poor people staying there were waiting for us to come for a long time.

The 4 hours parade travelled like 28km through Woodlands to Yishun. We didn't have any breaks, no drinking or eating or toilet break. We just moved on and on and on..

I was very tired of course. Wearing the costume and having the heavy head dress but then when I see the audience, I still have to smile and wave. I felt happy too when the people there seems very happy to see us. No matter how tired I am, I will still smile and wave because the audiences have waited for a long time for the floats to come. It will be unfair to them if we don't do our part.

This is the first time I smiled continuously for 3.5 hours, and wave for that long too. Wave till my arm ache. I told my friends that I smile and wave more than the president does in a year!

We were like super stars when we got off the float finally at Yishun! There were camera flashing all over and we just stood there and let people come to us to take photos. LOL, Now I know how it feels like to be a super star, with so many cameras flashing around you.

I didn't take any pictures in the woodlands parade because we were too busy! Busy posing for others to take photos and busy drinking and resting whenever we can.

One funny thing happened at the woodlands tour though. LOL Remember our dearest Ying Tai's arm stretching out? She kept hitting the trees by the road side and one by one her fingers broke off!!! Everyone were like,"Woah! Look at that statue got no fingers!!!!"

Finally one finger left and Phyllis told me that it will be funny if that last finger broke. I told her it will only be funny if the whole arm broke off!

At the exact moment when I finished my sentence, our yingtai's arm broke off! And I mean the whole arm broke into pieces!!! We were so stunned Phyllis kept laughing her head off saying that what I said came true..

Poor ying tai has got no arm for the rest of the parade.

Through the parade, I heard the people calling out to me sometimes and Phyllis said they are lecherous men around her. LOL.. I heard one who shouted '英台我爱你!' Another one shouted '英台英台英台!' continuously. Phyllis cannot stand it lor. HAhaha she kept saying,'wah lau... so lecherous...'

Got one funny one lor.. ask me if I am 嫦娥! Hahaha..

Then Phyllis said why is it that all the people who took photos said thank you to me but no one said thank you to her. LOL I told her that she can change to dress up as a girl lah if she wants. But she dun want.

Yesterday, we got another heartland parade at Chinatown. This is a bigger event as there were even fireworks and fire crackers. They even have some performers there to dance. But we waited a very long time around the float so we got time to take pics. Hahaha.. Lots of pics in fact!

Oh yah, on both days, I did make up for ALL the 6 ppl!!! Can you imagine that? I drained myself out by doing make up for 6 people! It's not easy and it's a very tiring thing to do. Susan said my make up matched the event and so I have to do for all of us. I took like 4 hours to do make up for all of us. This is Phyllis after my magical make up, her eyes were bigger. But I haven do her eyebrows yet so she look abit weird here.

Nice or not? Not bad right? I think I can go do part time make up for such events liao. :P

The 2 山伯, which one more handsome??

We make a crazy pair of 梁山伯祝英台 because we are always up to something crazy and Phyllis is always up to doing something silly also. Like taking random pictures of me..... -_-"

This one very cool shanbo, still talking on the phone like doing very big business like that. Hahaha.

Poor Yingtai got her arms back!!! Dunno which hospital got such good plastic surgery lor. Can re-attach her arms back so perfectly. No scars at all! But then they changed the direction of her arms so that she dun knock into anymore branches. We decided to pose with the new arms position.

Susan like to do all these cool positions...

And another stylo malo positon.

And one with her tiger friend.

Beautiful night scenery in Chinatown.

We requested to take photos with these sexy ladies! They are really very sexy lor but it's good lah. Weather so hot.

Phyllis and me decided to act cool with susan. So we followed her and do her favourite 'headache' pose....

And this... thinking of something pose....

Next up, candid shots of us taken by a friend. She was there to help out and take photos for us! Thanks!!

We are posing for the audiences, they like to take photos~

Romantic float.

And this phyllis looking very bored. Like she is going to fall asleep if nothing exciting happens.

Then she found something to do by gossiping with Susan. dunno what they talking about..

Phyllis: Wah, there got 2 apples for $1! Very cheap!!

Susan: Wah lau, $1 where got cheap? I saw one at 2 for 50cents!

They decided to tell the news of the cheap apples to Ying tai...

Susan and Phyllis: Ying tai! We found one stall sell apples at 2 for 50 cents only! We go buy leh before the floats move away.

But Ying tai cant be bothered.

Susan being the more attentive Shan bo checked out what is wrong with Ying tai. Why she look so sad. Hahaha..

The 3rd shanbo was left out from the apple conversation. She is more independant.

Some candid shots of us.. wandering around the floats.

Nothing else better to do, Phyllis looking up the sky, it's a full moon. I am only worried about my wig falling off.

Finally at 8+pm the floats started moving around Chinatown. It was very very crowded there as there were many tourists and the fireworks attracted the fireworks fans.

During this waiting time, Phyllis took some silly photos of me.. Which she commented that I look like a cat.... But I think my blog too long so I blog again in other entries. :)

Chingay 2010

Chingay, the biggest and grandest float parade in Asia! I am honoured to be part of it and contribute to the show. It was truly an experience of a life time. It's a moment to remember for. :)

I went to People's Association at 1pm to do my make up. The coaches will leave for the performance venue at 5pm and we have to be all ready by then. It started to rain at around 3pm and we all panicked. I panicked most because the rain will ruin my costume! Thank god it stopped before 5pm....

Miss Susan ask me to exaggerate my make up that day because we want to have that 闪亮梦幻 feel. As it is not an opera show, I can experiment with extreme make up. The results...

It's not that obvious in the photo but it is more obvious in a video I will put up at the end of this entry. Susan liked my make up alot and told me to do make up for my 梁山伯 so that we can match each other. And so I did...

And this is the end product. Not bad right. She got small eyes like me too!

Skinny Susan in pink costume. She will be representing the 化蝶 part. I will be representing the 楼台会 and the other two will be 十八相送.

The pair that represent 十八相送 are looking good~

Some of the performers are in this room too. The ones in green are representing the Malay item.

After a very busy make up session, we started taking photos before leaving to take the coaches to the F1 pit.

Cam Whoring.

This is our very cute rice box! We had this for dinner!

Kanglong, our very helpful helper for that day!

The bus was packed with performers and all the barangs that they had to bring. We almost couldn't get a seat because we boarded late.

Finally we arrived and first of all, of course I have to take a photo with my 梁山伯. We looked very loving right? LOL unlike ANOTHER couple who look like they just broke up or something.. :P

Everybody together! All the 3 couples~ And other performers requested to take photos with us. In fact MANY ppl requested to take photos with us! I think I literally took hundreds of photos that day with the other performers.

I like this photo, we made up the poses ourselves~

Ok, here is the video that I was talking about. You can see my make up more clearly here and in the first 3 seconds you can see that I look like blur sotong because I didn't know that the camera had started recording.

Please don't comment on my round face! Thanks. LOL, also I am ver singlish in my video so I think my foreign friends probably don't know what I am talking about~ oops.... At the end of the video, some one suddenly ask me to take a photo with the float. I was recording halfway so I ask KL to hold it for me~

I also realised that I can talk a lot of nonsense. I just kept blabbering on when I video it but I only find out my nonsense when I was watching the video at home. HAhaha.

I decided to comouflage myself on the float.

KL gave me the idea of this catching buttefly pose. Hee hee I think it's quite nice leh.

We decided to copy the pose of the 2 statues on our float. Look like or not?

My partner also want to do this pose~

Taking photos with the other performers. KL told me that if I get $5 from all the ppl who requested to take photo with me, I will be rich liao. Mad lor.. Talk about money will hurt feelings one. I like this photo because I love egyptian stuff too and I think this egyptian queen looked stunning~

So many baby cribs! But where are the babies???

The giraffe asked me not to pull his tail but I insist. And hey, look! It's my favourite Universal studio float! I love it cuz it has got the characters of the cartoons I like. Like kungfu panda and the zebra from Madagascar.

You gotta move it move it..... Hhahaha

Me stretching my mouth like the dinosaur.

Monkeys! They are friends of my son lor. Do I look like Tarzan's girlfriend, Jane, here?

This is a very cute golf cart. Like camoflage like that.

Porsche also made it's appearance.

This float is called 'Kravings'. It's covered with chocolate, cakes and candies~!

Another picture with the dancers!

And another one...

And another one~~~! We were like .... dunno what also.. I only remember the cameras kept clicking away.

More. and more~! The ones in purple are our butterfly dancers!

Chio~

And more dancers joined in!

Finally me and KL got chance to take photo too.

After dunno how long of photo taking, our feet ached. So we sat there to rest and still taking photos!

But we couldn't rest for long as people started coming in again to take photos! These are from the Japanese Association and they are really japanese~ I like that cute mask on the left... :)

More photos!! with japanese association.

The dancers who were supposed to be on top on the floats were lifted up using forklifts.

King and queen on the top of the float! Wow. Like I said in my video, I would love to be on top. Can enjoy the wind and scenery.

With the helper~

With the beautiful Russian performers. Very big costumes they have here.

Our little butterflies. They will be flying all over our float while dancing to the music. The visual was stunning. I felt like I was surrounded by a swarm of colourful butterflies! It's really beautiful with the music and all.

I spotted this horse lying down.

I was shocked to realise that it was dead!

We were trying to strike a very loving pose. Hahaha. This was what we came up with. Then we made fun of the other couple who looked like they broke up or something.

This is the break up couple. Why I say they break up leh?

Cuz they were always seated like this. And the ying tai looked like she just had a bad argument with shan bo. On the other hand, me and my partner were always goofing around and laughin. Well. I told them to get over it and go reincarnate. LOL.

Me looking like a ghost! With all the green light.

Participants came to take photos~

Strike another pose.

Hahaha... We were having fun.

This other partner still ok. They don't look like the broke up or wat.

Wah. super long fire crackers!! In case you don't know, fire crackers are banned in Singapore and this is truly the first that time that I see a real fire cracker. When they started burning, the noise they made was thunderous! But it really brought up the atmosphere to make use feel high~

Super big flats that start off the parade! The fire crackers and the flags are the first to go on the parade. They made a lot of noise and bring up the sensation of the audiences. I can see that the audiences are very high too as they were laughing and dancing all along~

At the end of the parade, there was a grand finale. I love the finale!!!! There were fireworks right in front of me. As I was on the float, I got a super clear view of the fire works and then suddenly the confetti sprayed up like snowflakes flying all around. They are pink, purple, yellow and red confetti flying all around me and with the fireworks going up on the sky. It's really romantic!

Talking about romantic, a few girls came up to me and asked me what I am posing as. I told them and they told us that we looked very romantic like this~ LOL of course we are romantic la~

Then at one point, a few girls thought that we are statues. When my partner suddenly moved, they got a fright!! Hee hee...

I haven got any pictures of the parade as I was on the float. I can't possibly take photos. However, I will try to look around the net to find photos of the finale. I wanna show you guys how high everyone is at the finale and how beautiful the confetti is!

I also found this video an audience posted up on youtube. It's a video of our segment. Though the video didn't really capture me (only see me riding through) you can listen to the beautiful music and see the little butterflies dancing~

Chingay Parade 妆艺 2010 (3) - Butterfly Lovers (梁山伯与祝英台)。

Not bad right? I love the music. It really brought me into the mood of being 祝英台, gave me the feelings of being torn apart with my love one and finally be able to see him, that kinda feeling and 感动. I almost cried!

Another video, also cannot see me one.. :P can only see me pass by...

This is not the end of the chingay. We had a round of heartland tour. I just went to Woodlands and Yishun on last sunday. I will blog about it too and funny stuff also happened during the tour..
